Insert / pocket replacement

A new window is set inside your existing frame. The interior and exterior trim stay, so it’s quicker and less expensive — but it only works if the old frame is perfectly square and rot-free, it reduces your glass area, and it can seal in hidden water damage. This is what most national “replacement window” programs install.

Full-frame replacement

The window comes out down to the rough opening — head, jambs, and sill. That lets us find and fix rot, install proper sill-pan flashing tied into the weather barrier, re-insulate, and restore the window’s full size. In a Minnesota home you plan to keep, it’s the right way to do it.
