Twin Cities Storm-Season Home Checklist (Roof, Siding & Gutters)

Minnesota’s worst hail and wind hits from spring through late summer. A little prep now makes damage less likely — and a future insurance claim far easier. Run through this checklist.
Roof
- Look for loose, curling, or missing shingles
- Check flashing around chimneys and vents
- Clear branches and debris that can dam water
Gutters & downspouts
- Clean them so heavy rain drains fast
- Make sure downspouts extend away from the foundation
- Re-secure any loose sections
Siding & windows
- Re-caulk gaps and check seals
- Trim tree limbs that overhang the house
- Note any cracked or loose panels
Document your home now
